Some people like to research their own family history and this has been made easier due to the considerable amount of information now available online. In recent years, to help people searching for their Donegal ancestors, we have contributed some of our records to the online database service that is hosted by the Irish Family History Foundation. Click to view sample record of birth, death or marriage.
At present our online database contains pre-1900 Church baptisms, marriage, death records, pre-1920 Civil Registration of births, deaths and marriages and census returns. The work is ongoing and the records available at the moment are listed here.
This list will be updated as new records come online.
In order to use the online service you will need to register on the site and pay a subscription fee. The site will explain the procedures to follow. This will allow you to search the site and to view/print records. Before embarking on online research it is useful to gather as much information as possible on your family’s history.
If the online search proves unsuccessful or presents too many possibilities, based on the information available to you, we would recommend that you contact Donegal Ancestry directly.
